Update - here’s a map showing the location of the Roundy Bar
From Sunday 12th November the Roundy bar on Castle St will host a new weekly slot to be called the ‘Roundy Room Sessions.’ According to Hot Press, local singer/songwriter Ken Cotter is the man behind it. Of course you’ll have to pay hotpress a few bob to be allowed the privilege of reading the relevant article on their website.
In the past week or so we seem to be spoiled for choice with the new Tikki Lounge and the Crane Lane Theatre being unveiled, so it’s good news to hear that we have another music venue being born (possibly), and I’ll be very interested to see how the set up works in the Roundy. It sounds like something similar to Gavin Moore’s City Sessions series in the Woodford on Tuesdays, and perhaps they drew inspiration from that, although the Woodford event foregoes a cover charge.
Ken is getting a little help from his friends, and Mick Flannery will perform at the inaugural night next Sunday. Tickets are €12, presumably available at the door.
The following Sunday 19th sees the Darktown Strutters take to the stage (adm. €5), and Cobh singer/songwriter Freddie White headlines on the 26th (adm. €15).

Mick Flannery already sold out unfortunately. I was looking forward to that one. The Roundy is probably quite a small venue, I can’t imagine they’d much of a capacity which would make it better in my opinion.
lOOK OUT FOR MY brothers GIG BEING HELD IN CORK CITY AT THE ROUNDY HOUSE ON SUNDAY 10TH DECEMBER 2006 AT 9PM.
ANY OLD PRESENTATION BROTHERS AROUND YOU MIGHT REMEMBER HIM.

Hi Stephanie,
I have to admit I’ve never heard of anyone with the name Roundy before. The Roundy Bar (formerly The Roundy House) is so called because it occupies a roundy building on a roundy street corner in the city. Sorry to burst your roundy bubble.
